Re-inventing a social project working with recovering drug addicts, ex-prisoners, and local young people by providing a storage space constructed with re-used materials.
The Adventure Project was a social project where Mr. Willie Whelan hosted sporting activities for ex-convicts, recovering drugaddicts and children from the surrounding area. Local people raised money for refurbishing the old Loch Keeper’s Cottage to be the administrative centre of the project. It was active from 2015 until 2019, it had to close due to a personal injury claim and covid19.
Every person I’ve spoken to, and all texts I have read about the project, have given me the indication that it was necessary for the area. Because of that, this prototype aims to re-invent an enhanced version of the project, with a proper storage space and a new seating area.

Sketching Oral History
I sketched the area around the Loch Keeper’s Cottage from different times in history to then brainstorm my initial ideas on top of the timelayers.
Red: Pre 1941
Green: The bombings in 1941
Blue: Today
Yellow: Initial project ideas
Sketch - Storage Space layers
Initial idea of how to make a non-permanent storage space with reclaimed scaffolding from construction sites, re-used wire fence and re-used billboards.
Facade Idea
I wanted to create a storage space that resembled cottage, but with a vibrant and colorful facade. My belief is that putting this second contemporary version of the cottage behind the actual one would help drag attention to the old and rather forgotten building, after all the Loch Keeper’s Cottage is a gem that deserves attention.
Storage Space - Method
Re-used Scaffolding Structure
Re-used Protective Fencing
Re-used Scaffolding Boards & Space Allocation
Re-used Billboards
The outer layer of the storage is made with old bollboards that are cut into 20x20 (cm) pieces. Billboards are generally printed on PVC vinyl which is completely rainproof.
Patchwork with billboards of different colors.
